In 2016, God called Matthew and Amber to Bangkok, Thailand. Their vision is to walk alongside the most vulnerable within society - this is often women, children, and refugees. Thailand is a country with 95% of its population adhering to Buddhism. It also struggles with considerable poverty and a staggering wealth gap between urban and rural areas. Moreover, the country has a growing refugee challenge. Sadly, in Thailand, refugees have no legal right to employment, education, housing, transportation, or healthcare. Without the protection of international treaties, they can be subject to indefinite detention.
In response to these needs, Matt leads ChildCARE Plus (CCP) in Thailand with a team of 18 nationals, working in 20 communities, with over 400 sponsored children and their families. CCP programs provide education, nutrition, and healthcare to children to help break the cycle of poverty while also partnering with local churches in each community.
Amber works with ZOE Network to see women empowered to lead and influence. This work is focused on Thailand and reaches into the surrounding region.
Additionally, Matt & Amber help Bangkok refugees by advocating for their bail from detention and providing work and resettlement opportunities. They also work alongside government officials and other agencies to help those seeking to navigate the hurdles of the legal system.
Broadway Church reaches outside its walls to positively impact lives both locally and globally. Globally, we support many Global Workers who are the hands and feet of Jesus around the world. Each year we also send out multiple local and international short-term missions teams who serve first-hand in an outreach context.
